NCDOT Public Meeting set for April 27 in Rodanthe
The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting in April to present a design modification to the Design-Build contract that has been proposed at the southerly landfall of the bridge over the Pamlico Sound between N.C. 12 in the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, and Rodanthe.
The public meeting will be held on Thursday, April 27, at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Center located at 23186 Myrna Peters Road, in Rodanthe from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This project is being constructed as part of the design-build process used by NCDOT to complete projects faster and save taxpayer money. The design-build method allows the design, environmental permitting, utility relocation and construction to take place under one contract, which reduces overall construction time, helps the department avoid cost inflation, lessens environmental impact and alleviates driving delays for motorists.
NCDOT and Design-Build Team representatives will be available to present a map of the proposed modification, answer questions and receive comments. Comments will be accepted through Thursday, May 11, 2017. Please note no formal presentation will be made. Maps displaying the location and design of the proposed modification are available for public review on the project website: www.ncdot.gov/projects/bonnerbridgephase2/.as well as on the NCDOT Public Meetings website.
