Up to 4 Inches of Rain Forecast Through Thursday
Deep moisture coupled with upper level low pressure and a stalled front will lead to a very wet week across eastern North Carolina, with as much as 4 inches of rainfall possible from tonight through Thursday for the southern Outer Banks.
Higher rainfall totals are forecast for southern Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island, while the tri-villages and the northern Outer Banks may receive as much as 3 inches of rain through Thursday.
Dangerous rip currents and strong surf are also expected for Monday, due to moderate or strong southwest winds combined with an increasing southwest swell. A strong shore break and strong longshore current are expected for all Hatteras and Ocracoke Island beaches.
A Flash Flood Watch may be issued later tonight for portions of the eastern North Carolina.
