Outer Beaches Waves Office Damaged by Lightning Strike
The Outer Beaches Realty Waves office was struck by lightning on Sunday morning during a series of thunderstorms that blew through Hatteras Island. Outer Beaches Realty reported in a statement that while the building has sustained some damage and is closed at this time, there were no injuries.
Firefighters were called to the scene at around 9:30 a.m., and it is reported that the fire from the lightning strike was contained primarily to the top tower of the building.
Outer Beaches Realty said in an online statement that vacationers that are scheduled to arrive to a home in Salvo, Waves, or Rodanthe on Sunday can still check in at the parking lot of their Waves office.
“During your stay, if you have any housekeeping or maintenance needs, please refer to the phone information on the check-in packet,” the statement read. “Incoming calls will be redirected to our Avon office.”
