Bike the Light is cancelled
Because of Hurricane Irene’s aftermath, the Kiwanis Club of Hatteras Island has decided to postpone the third annual Bike the Light, which was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, in Buxton. Kiwanis has tentatively rescheduled the event for Saturday, Nov. 5. Further details to come.
Day at the Docks
The Day at the Docks, which was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17, in Hatteras village has been cancelled. Organizers noted the severity of Hurricane Irene damage to the northern villages on the island and inaccessibility of the island to residents and visitors as factors that went into the decision.
