U.S. Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet Responds to Head Injury Call
On Wednesday evening, the U.S. Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet received a call from the fishing vessel Mckenzie that a crewman had suffered a head injury from the vessel’s rigging.
The Coast Guard’s 47308 Motor Life Boat responded to the call, and was able to successfully transfer the crewman over to the vessel, where the Coast Guard crew continued to monitor his seizure-like symptoms and fluctuating consciousness until they returned to the station where local EMS coordinated his transfer to Norfolk to seek additional medical care. The crewman’s current condition is presently unknown.
