Coastal Storm Forecast for Friday and Saturday
A coastal, non-tropical storm bringing heavy rains and gusty winds is forecast to affect Hatteras and Ocracoke islands on Friday and Saturday, per a Wednesday afternoon briefing from the National Weather Service Newport / Morehead City office.
Periods of moderate to heavy rain are likely on Friday and Friday night, with isolated thunderstorms also possible. One to two inches of rain are expected during the storm, with the highest amounts of rain along the coast of the Outer Banks. Gusty southeast winds will also develop on Friday and become westerly on Saturday. Wind gusts of 25-35 mph will be possible along the coastline during the storm.
