Cold and Windy Weekend Weather Expected with 40-50 mph Gusts
High and gusty winds on Friday will ring in a weekend of chilly weather, according to the Friday morning forecast from the US National Weather Service office in Newport / Morehead City.
A cold front is crossing Eastern North Carolina on Friday morning, and will clear out the rainy and cloudy weather that’s been prevalent in the past few days.
However, a side effect of the arrival of this cold front will be gusty north winds beginning on Friday morning, and lasting until at least Friday night.
Winds will generally gust from 25-35 mph throughout Eastern North Carolina, except on Hatteras Island and the Outer Banks, where 40-50 mph gusts are likely. A wind advisory has been issued for our area.
A freeze warning is also in effect for the mainland areas of Eastern North Carolina on Saturday morning, as temperatures drop to the upper 20s and lower 30s inland. On Hatteras and Ocracoke islands, expect colder temperatures in the lower 40s on Saturday morning.
