Longer spring schedule planned for Hatteras ferry
North Carolina residents and visitors planning trips to the North Carolina coast in the new year can now find and print the 2017 state ferry schedules online.
Residents and visitors will find most of the schedules the same as they were this year, with one notable exception — an extension of the spring schedule on the Ocracoke-Hatteras route. The extended, “shoulder season” schedule will be run from the week before Easter (April 11) to the beginning of the full summer season schedule (May 15).
“There are two reasons for the extension,” said Ferry Division Director Ed Goodwin. “First, Easter is later in the year than it has been the past two years, and second, Ocracoke has established several shoulder season events that are drawing more visitors earlier in the season. We consulted with the organizers of those events and expanded the schedule to give them the service they need.”
