Dare officials plan community meeting on Hatteras on bridge closure
Dare County Officials will conduct a community meeting at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec.10, to discuss the Bonner Bridge closure. The meeting will be held in the auditorium at the Cape Hatteras Secondary School of Coastal Studies on Highway 12 in Buxton.
All Dare County services on Hatteras Island are operating on schedule including Emergency Medical Services, law enforcement, and trash pickup.
The Clerk of Court will open an office on Hatteras Island to assist local citizens. The office will be fully functional and able to handle all Clerk of Court services, including magisterial duties.
The Hatteras Island Clerk of Court Office will be inside the Dare County Office Building at 50347 Highway 12 in Frisco across the street from the EMS Station. To access the office, enter from the south side of the building. The office will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Dec. 9, 10, and 11 from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning the week of Dec. 16, the Clerk of Court Office on Hatteras Island will then be open the same hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until further notice.
NCDOT continues to operate an emergency ferry route between Stumpy Point and Rodanthe to provide access to Hatteras Island during the Bonner Bridge closure. Ferry information is available at 800-293-3779 or www.ncdot.gov/ferry/
