The Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry, Ocracoke-Cedar Island ferry, and Ocracoke-Swan Quarter ferry resumed regular operations on Sunday morning, September 24, per an update from the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division.

Ferry service was suspended starting on Friday due to high winds and hazardous weather conditions stemming from Tropical Storm Ophelia.

For a complete schedule for all ferry routes, (or to make reservations for the Ocraoke-mainland ferries), visit www.ncferry.org, or call 1-800-BY-FERRY.

Passengers can also receive real-time text or email alerts on service status from their preferred routes by signing up for the Ferry Information Notification System (FINS) at www.ncdot.gov/fins.

System-wide route status updates are also regularly posted on the Ferry Division’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
