Bodie Island Lighthouse opens for daily climbing beginning Wednesday
The Bodie Island Lighthouse is now open for climbing seven days a week as of Wednesday, May 24.
Climbing opportunities at the lighthouse were previously available four days a week, beginning on April 26, 2023.
Standing nearly 165 feet tall, the Bodie Island Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. First lit on October 1, 1872, Bodie Island is the third lighthouse to serve the Cape Hatteras National Seashore area.
Climbing tickets go on sale at 7 a.m. and may only be purchased on the same day of your intended climb. Tickets are only available for purchase online at www.recreation.gov/ticket/252034/ticket/10087143.
A climbing season at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is unlikely in 2023, due to ongoing restoration efforts.
