Coast Guard assists disabled vessel near Teach’s Hole Channel
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Station Hatteras Inlet received a call regarding a 24’ Bayliner boat that had lost electronics in the Teach’s Hole Channel with two people on board.
A crew from Station Hatteras Inlet headed to the site of the incident at 7:40 p.m. onboard their 24’ special purpose craft – shallow water (SPC-SW) vessel, and began making their way towards the Bayliner’s last known position.
Per Station Hatteras Inlet, the mariners had smartly dropped their anchor before drifting onto a shoal. The USCG crew arrived on scene at 8:31 p.m. and proceeded to put the stranded vessel in a side tow, pull up their anchor, and tow them into Silver Lake in Ocracoke, where they were safely moored at 9:11 p.m. on Sunday night. No injuries were reported in the incident.
