Cold front will bring strong winds, potential coastal flooding on Friday night
A strong cold front will move through Eastern N.C. tonight, bringing strong winds and the potential for minor coastal flooding for portions of the Outer Banks, per a Friday morning update from the National Weather Service Newport / Morehead City office.
Southwest winds will develop Friday afternoon, becoming west to northwest on Friday night, and gusting up to 45-50 mph along the Outer Banks. Minor coastal flooding is possible along the soundside of the Outer Banks on Friday night as well, with potential inundation 1-2 feet above ground level.
A Wind Advisory is currently in effect for the Outer Banks and Eastern Carteret County tonight through early Saturday morning.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is currently in effect for the soundside Outer Banks, with impacts mainly expected from Hatteras Island up to Duck, including Roanoke Island.
