Cooper to announce school opening plan Tuesday

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is scheduled to announce his plans for re-opening the state’s public schools at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, according to a schedule released by his press office.
The governor had postponed a decision originally scheduled for July 1 on how to begin the next school year. The three options that have been discussed include one that features all in-person learning, a hybrid of some in-person and some remote learning, and a plan for only remote learning.
At a July 9 press briefing, Cooper seemed to offer a significant clue about his eventual decision when, in response to a reporter’s question, he said, “I believe that kind of getting back into school [safely] is going to require some in-person, but also some remote learning.”
