Dare County Board of Commissioners issues statement on passing of Jack Shea
The Dare County Board of Commissioners released the following statement on the passing of Jack Shea, who served on the Board for more than ten years before retiring in 2018. Shea passed away from natural causes on July 23 at his Outer Banks home.
With deep sadness, the Dare County Board of Commissioners acknowledges the death of Jack Shea who served as a Dare County Commissioner from 2006 to 2017.
Commissioner Shea will forever be remembered for the vast amount of executive-level business experience he brought to the Board of Commissioners. His management skills benefitted the many boards and committees on which he served, including the Dare County Airport Authority, the Committee to Preserve Beach Access, and the Audit Committee where he served with distinction as its Chairman.
In remembering Commissioner Shea, Dare County Chairman Bob Woodard fondly recalled, “Jack had the ability to understand complex financial and legal issues and he used this talent to provide helpful insight and guidance to the Board.” The Chairman added, “I could always count on Jack for a comprehensive analysis of every issue. He was a good friend and a trusted advisor who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.”
