Dare County releases video highlighting Rodanthe Bridge Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony & Community Day
Dare County Government, in partnership with Current TV, has released a video highlighting the ribbon-cutting ceremony and community day that was held on Saturday, April 9, 2022*, to celebrate the completion of the Rodanthe Bridge on Hatteras Island.
This 2.4-mile bridge extends from the southern portion of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge over the Pamlico Sound and into Rodanthe, bypassing a section of N.C. Highway 12 in northern Rodanthe known as the S-Curves, which is prone to flooding due to ocean overwash.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks were made by North Carolina Department of Transportation Deputy Division Engineer for Division 1 C.W. “Win” Bridgers, Dare County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robert L. “Bob” Woodard Sr. and Dare County Commissioner Danny Couch.
Following the ribbon-cutting, members of the public were invited to walk or bike onto the bridge, which offers stunning views of Hatteras Island and the Pamlico Sound and also serves as a vital link that connects the communities throughout Dare County.
