Freeze Warning in effect for Eastern N.C.; Outer Banks will see temps in the low 40s
A widespread freeze is expected outside the Outer Banks on Thursday night, November 17, as a high pressure system building over the area ushers in cold air across eastern North Carolina.
Lows away from the shoreline will be in the upper 20s to low 30s, while temperatures will hover in the low 40s on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands.
Residents in affected areas are advised to take steps on Thursday to prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes by wrapping, draining, or allowing pipes to drip slowly, and should also take steps to protect tender plants from the cold weather.
