REMINDER: Hatteras Island Car Parade will Celebrate Graduating Seniors
Islanders will have an opportunity to celebrate Cape Hatteras Secondary School’s (CHSS) graduating seniors while maintaining their distance, thanks to an upcoming car parade that will cruise through every village on Hatteras Island.
The car parade is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, and will feature the class of 2020 in their caps and gowns in a vehicle-only procession that will extend from Hatteras to Rodanthe.
The parade begins at 1:30 p.m. at Teach’s Lair Marina in Hatteras village, and will follow N.C. Highway 12 through every town, (with a loop through Avon village), before ending at the Island Convenience store in Rodanthe.
The public is invited to come out to the roadway to cheer for the seniors as they head north along the island, although all fans of the class of 2020 are advised to follow social distance guidelines.
