A team of firefighters from the Hatteras, Frisco, and Buxton Volunteer Fire Departments, as well as additional state and local authorities, responded to a report of a house fire in Hatteras village on Thursday morning, as Tropical Storm Idalia was impacting the Outer Banks.

The call was made by a neighbor in the Kohler Drive area at 10:43 a.m. on Thursday, who noticed fire and smoke coming out of the Hatteras village home.

Volunteer firefighters from Hatteras and the other nearby villages arrived on the scene within 10 minutes of the report, per the neighbor who made the initial 911 call.

The home was unoccupied at the time, and the fire, (which was on the second level of the structure), was extinguished within an estimated 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and there were no injuries reported in the incident.
