The N.C. Marine Patrol participated in a boarding drill with the N.C. Ferry Division’s Hatteras Inlet operations this past weekend.

According to a post on the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries Facebook page, Captain Mike Stowe, Master in Charge of the M/V Croatan, and his crew took the ferry toward Rollison Channel.

Marine Patrol Officers Robert Martine, Lee Mason, Jack Gainey, and Seth Barrow followed with two boats that are specifically designed for boarding vessels in an emergency.

The ferry had no passengers aboard, and all appropriate emergency services were notified that training was taking place.

The officers found the exercise so realistic and beneficial that they asked to conduct these simulations annually.
