Minor to moderate coastal flooding possible this weekend
Strong northeasterly winds combined with a higher tide cycle this weekend will bring a threat for coastal flooding to portions of eastern North Carolina, per a Thursday afternoon update from the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City office.
The main coastal flood concerns will be along the oceanside from Duck to Hatteras, and in soundside areas of Downeast Carteret County, which is south of Ocracoke Island.
Minor to moderate coastal flooding is possible for oceanside locations from Friday night into Monday morning, especially around the times of high tide. Friday evening’s high tide is at approximately 7:00 p.m.
