No injuries in Avon house fire on Monday
At approximately 12:15 pm on Monday, October 21, Avon Volunteer Fire Dept. firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at the 39000 block of Sandfiddler Lane in Avon.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported fire and smoke coming from the single-family home.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and were able to bring it under control in about 20 minutes. Fire companies from Buxton and Frisco assisted the Avon firefighters in extinguishing the blaze. The Dare County Sheriff’s Office and EMS were also on the scene assisting.
The home was unoccupied at the time, but suffered extensive damage. No firefighters or civilians were injured during the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not believed to be of a suspicious nature.
