Ocracoke Island ferry operations suspended
The Hatteras-Ocracoke, Ocracoke-Swan Quarter, and Ocracoke-Cedar ferry operations have been suspended as of Saturday morning, March 23, due to deteriorating weather conditions, per an update from the North Carolina Ferry System.
N.C. Highway 12 on northern Ocracoke Island is closed due to severe ocean overwash that occurred with Saturday morning’s approximately 7:00 a.m. high tide. The road will reopen, (and ferry service for all three Ocracoke routes will resume), when conditions improve.
