Reminder: Lane closures required for Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe Bridge for CHEC inspections

Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative’s (CHEC’s) contractor, New River Electrical, will conduct a routine inspection of the conduit and electric cables attached to the Basnight Bridge over Oregon Inlet, as well as the Rodanthe Bridge, from January 22 to January 25, 2024.

The bridges will remain open to traffic during the inspections, however, motorists should expect daytime lane closures on the Rodanthe Bridge on Monday, January 22, and Tuesday, January 23, followed by lane closures on the Basnight Bridge on Wednesday, January 24 and Thursday, January 25, weather permitting.

The closures will be no longer than a half mile long, and flaggers will alternate traffic directions during the closure.
