Repairs are complete to a water line break that occurred between the villages of Avon and Buxton on Thursday, and the Dare County Water Department reports that normal service has been restored to all water users in the village of Avon.

The break was reported on Thursday morning, and Avon residents and visitors were asked to conserve water throughout the day until production was restored to full capacity. This is the third time that repairs have been required to the water line in between Avon and Buxton in the past month, as a similar break occurred on June 13, and on June 3.

Only Avon consumers were affected by all three breaks. Construction equipment and crews remain at the site in between Avon and Buxton, and travelers should use caution when driving on N.C. Highway 12 in this area.
