Severe thunderstorms possible on Wednesday, March 23
Strong to severe storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and a possible tornado are forecasted for eastern North Carolina on Wednesday, March 23, per an update from the National Weather Service (NWS) Newport/Morehead City office.
As of Monday, the most likely time period for strong to severe storms is late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening, although this is subject to change over the next 36-48 hours.
Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats, and coastal flooding is not expected for the Outer Banks area at this time.
