Wednesday morning thunderstorms bring hail to Hatteras Island
A series of thunderstorms on Wednesday morning resulted in a brief hailstorm for parts of southern Hatteras Island, surprising many residents who caught the severe weather on camera.
Pea-sized hail was reported in Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras at roughly 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, with the hailstorm lasting just under a minute for most areas.
Additional thunderstorms and rain are expected to continue through the remainder of Wednesday morning, but will clear out of the Outer Banks area by Wednesday afternoon.
