NCBBA’s 9th Annual Red Drum Tournament Final Results



The NCBBA’s 9th annual Red Drum Fishing Tournament wrapped up on Saturday, October 28, after a nice run of great weather and exceptional fishing.

There were 263 participants in this year’s tournament, (which included 36 participant judges), who were angling for more than $8,500.00 in cash and prizes.

Participants included two junior anglers (under the age of 16), 23 female anglers, (four of which were seniors over the age of 65), and 63 senior male anglers. The participants hailed from 14 different states, and Allan Maly from Dallas, TX, once again secured the title of traveling from the longest distance.

Anglers began fishing at Midnight on Thursday, October 25, and fishing continued until noon on Saturday, October 28.

Frank & Fran’s in Avon - with owners Stephanie & Randy Ryals and Heather & Tim James - were once again the Tournament Headquarters.

The 10th and last session ended at Noon on Saturday with a flurry of fishing activity to end this year’s Red Drum Tournament.

After three days and 10 six-hour sessions of fishing, there were 120 Red Drum caught, which included 20 that were over 40.00 inches.

Two Yearlings (30-39 inches) and 99 Puppy Drum were also measured, and all were released alive.

The Final Standings are:

Largest Overall Red Drum Nick Walke of Kill Devil Hills, NC with a 48.00 inch fish.
2nd Largest Overall Red Drum goes to Travis Kemp of Moyock, NC with a 47.75 inch fish.
Day #1 Largest Red Drum is Ron Meyer of Concord, NC with a 47.50 inch fish.
2nd Largest Red Drum is Travis Kemp with a 47.00 inch fish.
Day #2 Largest Red Drum is Logan Sheriff of Hatters, NC with a 47.75 inch fish.
2nd Largest Red Drum is Nick Walke of Kill Devil Hills, NC with a 46.25
Day #3 Largest Red Drum is Nick Walke of Kill Devil Hills, NC with a 47.25
2nd Largest Red Drum is Jason Cooper of Columbus, OH with a 41.50 inch fish.
Most Red Drum Registered is Michael Eastridge of Charlotte, NC with 11 fish.
Senior Angler is Len Jasinski of Batavia, NY with a 46.50 inch fish.
Female Angler is McKenna Fulcher of Moorehead City, NC with a 25.75 in fish.

luefish Category is David Griffin of Holly Springs, NC with a 19.75 inch fish.
Sea Mullet is David Griffin of Holly Springs, NC with a 16.75 in. 1.91 lb.
Junior Angler is Abree Young of Morehead City, NC with a 24.25 inch fish.

Plans are already underway for the 10th Annual Red Drum Tournament, with Registration at Frank & Fran’s and fishing from October 25-27, 2018.
