UPDATE: NPS sets public meetings on infrastructure improvements
The National Park Service will conduct two public meetings to provide the basic information and to hear questions and comments regarding the proposal to improve infrastructure to provide new access points and to facilitate public access in Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
Public meetings are scheduled as follows:
Tuesday, July 16, on Hatteras Island at the Avon Fire Hall from 3 until 6 p.m.
Wednesday, July 17, on Ocracoke Island at the Ocracoke School from 3 until 6 p.m.
This open house format meeting will provide an opportunity to view maps and information and interact with park staff who will answer questions. The general public is invited to attend.
The Cape Hatteras National Seashore has released its proposal to facilitate additional public beach access environment assessment to the public last week. A public comment period opened July 1 and runs through Aug. 2.
The Proposal to Facilitate Additional Public Beach Access Environmental Assessment is available for public comment on-line at the NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment website: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/beach_access. Members of the public can comment online.
Public read-only copies of this document will be available at the NPS Visitor Centers at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Ocracoke, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial; the Dare County Libraries in Hatteras Village, Manteo, and Kill Devil Hills, and the Ocracoke Library. Copies of this document will be available at the scheduled public meetings while supplies last.
