WANCHESE– Rosalie Austin Gallop died Dec. 6, 2015 at her home in thearms of her family. A Dare County native, Rosalie was born May21, 1931 in Hatteras. She was the daughter of the late LockhartPhilmore Austin and Claudia Austin. She was preceded in death byher husband, Early Filmore Gallop, and her son, Kenneth Filmore Gallop,as well as her brother, John Austin and her two sisters, Lillian A.Owens and Parthenia A. Midgette.
Rosalie was a devoted, loving wife and mother and lived in Wanchese,where she raised her family. She was a member of the Assembly ofGod Church.
Left to cherish Rosalie’s memory are her five children, Eleanor Curles(Major), Tex Gallop (Janet), John Gallop (Debbie), Kimberly Armstrong(Mickey), and Dana Barnard (Benjamin); eleven grandchildren, Filmore,Sherri, Sandy, Shawn, Omie, Jonathan, James, Teal, Whitney, Daniel, andMakayla; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Finn, Isla, Levi,Madelyn, Joseph, and Keyonna; three nieces, Jane Gray, WandaMoneymaker, and Johanna Gurganus, and numerous extended family members.
Friends and family may view at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel atMilepost 16 in Nags Head on Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 11a.m. with the committal and burial at Cudworth Cemetery immediatelyfollowing the funeral. The Rev. Johnny Chase will officiate.
