ELIZABETHCITY — Carlton Boyce O’Neal, 72, of 110 Letitia Drive, died Tuesday,April 1, 2014 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. O’Neal, a native ofOcracoke, was the son of the late Harry Walton O’Neal and Essie ParsonO’Neal and the husband of Bonnie Phillips Wilmore O’Neal of theresidence. He was a retired Master Chief Quartermaster from theU.S. Coast Guard and a retired captain from the N.C. Ferry Division anda member of Ocracoke United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife,he is survived by two sons, Charles O’Neal and wife Anne Stuart ofWashington, N.C., and Lewis O’Neal of Ocracoke; six brothers, GeorgeO’Neal and wife Catherine of Mesic, N.C., Richard O’Neal and wifeGinger of Hertford, N.C., Reginald O’Neal and wife Elva of Ocracoke,Walton “Cotton” O’Neal and wife Sue of Ocracoke, Rex O’Neal and wifeMiggy of Ocracoke, and Herbert O’Neal and wife Karen of Mesic, N.C.;two sisters-in-law, Carol O’Neal and Helen O’Neal both of ElizabethCity a step-grandson, Davis Lane Rumley, and many of nieces andnephews. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Edith McCookO’Neal; a son, Franklin O’Neal; and four brothers, James “Sam” O’Neal,Jimmy O’Neal, Harry F. O’Neal, and Bruce O’Neal.
A memorialservice will be held Sunday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Ocracoke UnitedMethodist Church.
