BUXTON– Bonnie Jean Farkas (nee Gray), 68,passed away at the Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head on Thursday, May17, 2012 with her family by her side. She was the daughter of thelate Mack Thompson Gray and the late Lucy Mae Gray and is survived byher loving husband of 36 years, Alan Farkas of Buxton. Inaddition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother,Donald M. Gray.
Bonnie was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Buxton,where she served for many years as Christ Ambassadors youth groupleader, Sunday school teacher, Women’s Missionaries secretary/treasurerand was instrumental in then making beautiful, chocolate-covered Eastereggs. She also had a love for craft work, making dolls, clothing,Christmas ornaments, and tree skirts. Her works were admired andloved by many locals and tourists alike.
In addition to her husband, Alan, she is survived by her daughter, IrmaVale Hostetter and husband Michael, her son Alan Matthew Farkas andfianc� Natasha Raquel Tolson, and her sister Janet Gaskins and husbandEldon, all of Buxton. Also left to cherish her memory are her twograndchildren, Daryl Montra Hostetter and Sierra Vale Hostetter, andher great-grandson, Christopher Michael Bruner and Montra’s fianc�Christopher Paul Bruner.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at LighthouseAssembly of God in Buxton with Elmo “Popeye” Danielsofficiating. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from6 – 8, also at the Church. At other times, the family willreceive friends at the home of Janet Gaskins, 48527 Highway 12, Buxton,and Alan’s home at 48518 Highway 12, Buxton. Following thefuneral service, in accordance with her wishes, Ms. Farkas will becremated.
