Dennis Nelson Robinson (Sam) of Hatteras, NC, passed away on March 11, 2024, at his home with his wife of 30 years, Mary, at his side. Sam was born and raised in Hatteras.
He worked for 34 years as a captain with the Pilots Association. He came home to Hatteras and worked as a captain for NCDOT ferry division for seven years. Sam was survived by his wife, Mary Tillett Robinson; 5 children, Ernie, Angie, Bryan, Matthew, and Thomas; and his grandchildren, sister Vivian Gray (Charles), brother Lyle Robinson (Patty); a niece, Corinne, and nephew Dennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Eliza Robinson, his niece Carole Gray, and nephew Steven Hickman.
A Memorial service will take place at The United Methodist Church, Hatteras, NC, on May 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
