CAPE HATTERAS — MarjorieMidgette Banks,went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at Pitt MemorialHospital. She lived in Norfolk 69 years before coming to live with herson in Frisco. She was the daughter of Joshua D. Austin and Elizabeth“Lizzie” Willis.
She was a homemaker and caregiver and enjoyed her children andgrandchildren. She loved the Lord with all her heart and shared himwith everyone who would listen. She was a great prayer warrior and gavefrom her heart. She loved painting pictures of the island, singing andplaying her harmonica with her son while we all sang along. Onething she truly gave her family was her love of Hatteras and we willkeep her spirit alive in our hearts.
Surviving are one daughter, Jennifer Novak, San Antonio, Tex.; threesons, Steve Midgette and wife Laurie of Havertown, Pa., GaryMidgette and wife Catherine of Phoenix, Ariz., and Robin Midgette andwife Jeanie of Frisco; 10 grandchildren, Curtis, Jason, Hannah,Jonathan, Robert, Julie, Abigail, Nathanael, Jeana, and Robbie; andseven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Banks was predeceased by three sons, Michael Midgette, JohnnyMidgette, and Howard Midgette all of Norfolk, Va.; three brothers,Monford Austin of Hatteras, Barney Austin of Virginia Beach, Va., andMaurice Austin of Hatteras; and husbands, John Riggs MidgetteofBuxton and Robert Banks of Norfolk.
The viewing will be held at Twiford’s Hatteras Island Chapel on Mondayfrom 7 until 8 p.m. Friends of the family are welcome. Burialwill be family only at the Quidley Cemetery in Buxton.
Mrs. Banks was a member of the Hatteras United Methodist Church. Inlieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Marjorie M Banks tothe United Methodist Men or the Hatteras Island Food Pantry, PO Box1591, Hatteras NC 27920.
