BUXTON– Sharon Lynn Powers, 35, died unexpectedly at her residence on Feb.17, 2008. She was born in Norfolk, Va., on March 19, 1972. Sharonwas the daughter of Robert and Judy Midgette of Buxton.
Sharonresided in Buxton with her parents from a young age. She attendedCape Hatteras High School. After high school, Sharon was a busyworker and held various positions in the local real estate andrestaurant industries. Most recently, Sharon was enjoying herposition as a cook at the Shrimp Shack Restaurant in Hatteras.
Sharonenjoyed long walks on the beach and exploring area nature trails. She also treasured the time spent with her two children and herfiancé Joe Thomas’ children, Hunter, Tyler, and Joseph,who will miss her dearly.
Besidesher parents, Robert and Judy Midgette and her fiancé Joe, Sharonis survived by her daughter, Magen Lynn Powers, and her son, TannerFloyd Powers, both of Buxton; a sister, Anna Cheek, and husband Randyof Weatherford, Tex.; Byron Wilson and wife Donna of Buxton; RobertMidgette, Jr. and wife Jonna of Rodanthe, and nieces and nephews and ahost of dear friends.
Amemorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. at theLighthouse Assembly of God Church in Buxton. Pastor DavidWaterfield will officiate. The family will receive friends at theBuxton residence following the service. Memorial tributes inSharon’s memory can be made to the Powers Education Fund throughany RBC Centura Bank branch.
