AVON– Gary David Taylor, 46, of Avon, NC went home to be with the Lord onFeb. 9, 2008. Gary was born in Norfolk, Va., and lived inVirginia Beach until he and his family moved to Avon in 2002. Heworked with the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad in the 1980s and as a dockhand on the Hatteras Ferry. Gary also served as a volunteer withthe Avon Fire Department. He was an avid fisherman and Redskinsfan, but his greatest enjoyments were his wife and daughters, thelights of his life.
Heis survived by his wife, Belinda Ann Taylor, and two daughters,Samantha Ann and Rosa Mae; a brother, Guy (Sharon); and two sisters,Millie (Parnell) and Donna (Howie), as well as a host of nieces,nephews, and three grand-nephews. Gary was preceded in death byhis parents, Guy and Mildred Taylor, and grandparents, Guy andKatherine Taylor and Harry and Mildred Wilson.
Amemorial service will be held at St. John’s United MethodistChurch in Avon on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m. with Rev. SusieFitch-Slater officiating. The family will receive friends in thechurch fellowship hall immediately following the service. In lieuof flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samantha AnnTaylor and Rosa Mae Taylor Education Fund, c/o Centura Bank, Buxton, NC27920.
