FRISCO– Robert Dewey Basnett, Jr., 74, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, atSentara Nursing Center, Barco, N.C. Mr. Basnett, born in Frisco,was a retired Chief Engineman with the U.S. Coast Guard, with 20 yearsof service. He was also a retired Chief Engineer with the N.C.Department of Transportation, Ferry Division, and the Seaman’sInternational Union. He was a member of Little Grove UnitedMethodist Church and the Cape Hatteras Masonic Lodge # 698.
He was the son of the late Robert Dewey Basnett, Sr. and the late Emma Hill Basnett.
Mr. Basnett is survived by a brother, Howard Wayne Basnett, and wife, Irene, of Frisco.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Twiford Island Chapel,Hatteras, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cory Oliverofficiating.
Twiford Island Chapel, Hatteras is assisting the family with arrangements.
