RODANTHE–John Berry Clayton, Sr., 65, ofRodanthe died on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at his residence. Mr.Clayton, born in Caswell County, North Carolina, was a retired foremanwith the Norfolk Southern Railroad Co. He was a veteran, havingserved in the
U. S. Army, and was an avid fisherman. He was the son of the lateWilliam Clayton, Sr. and Otelia Wilson Clayton and the widower of thelate Alice Vivian Parnell Clayton. He was also preceded in deathby a brother, William Clayton, Jr.
Mr. Clayton is survived by a daughter, Tina Dawn Hansen and husband,Richard, of Ringgold, Va.; two sons, John Berry Clayton, Jr. and wife,Cindi, of Virgilina, Va., and Mitchell Brooks, Greenville, Tenn.; asister, Sally Cope of Lynch Station, Va.; a brother, Kenneth Clayton ofFla.; and several grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo,on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Roger Barnettofficiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to thecharity of one’s choice.
