OCRACOKE– Zora Bable Gaskins, 76, died Monday, Dec. 15, at his home. A nativeof Ocracoke, he was the son of the late George Mathais and Iola O’NealGaskins. Mr. Gaskins was a member of Ocracoke United Methodist Churchand owned several rental cottages in Ocracoke.
Mr.Gaskins is surivived by his wife, Mable Mutro Gaskins, of the residenceand a daughter, Valerie Mason and husband Kenneth P. Mason, Jr. ofOcrocoke. Mr. Gaskins is also survived by a stepdaughter, CandyGaskill, also of Ocracoke, two sisters, Euphemia Farrow Ennis ofWilmington, Del., and Cora Louise Burrus of Hookerton, N.C.
Leftto cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Kayla Mason, PrestonMathais Mason, and Aidan Zorabable Mason, along with several nieces andnephews.
Amemorial service will be held at the O’Neal-Gaskins Family Cemetery onSaturday, Dec. 27, at 1:00 p.m. In addition to flowers, memorialdonations can be made to Community Home Care and Hospice of Engelhard,N.C., or the Ocracoke EMS. The family would like to express itsappreciation to their dear friends, Ward and Linda Garrish, and theirthanks to Dr. John Kihm for his care.
