AVON–Marie Dennett Hughes died in Avon onMonday, Sept. 24, 2007. She was 91. Marie Hughes was bornJan. 29, 1916 in New York City. She was the daughter of the lateGeorge and Mae Dennett and the wife of the late Thomas Aloysius Hughes.
Marie was married and raised her family in Mount Kisco, N.Y. Shealso served the public for many years at the Mount Kisco PublicLibrary. Marie and Tom spent their retirement years in Morehead Cityand moved to Avon in 2001. As a resident of Avon, Marie spentmany happy times with her wonderful caregiver, Debbie Scalia,especially on the long drives they took together.
Marie was pre-deceased by her brother, George Dennett, and her sister,Doris Brooks. Left to cherish the memory of Marie Dennett Hughesis her sister, Jean McCabe of Katonah, N.Y.; her sons Thomas Hughes ofNewport, N.C., and John Hughes of Crestview, Fla; her daughtersMargaret Hughes of Avon and Mary Dzamba of Wells, Maine, as well asnine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family is planning a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Seas CatholicChurch in Buxton Thursday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. Gallop Funeral Services,Inc., was entrusted with final arrangements. Condolences to theHughes family may be sent by using the online registry atwww.gallopfuneralservices.com.
