AYLETT, Va. — Beverly Slate Pierce, 72, went to be with the Lord onFriday, March 2, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 57 years,Darnell; three children, Michael R. Pierce and wife, Jeri, Vicki P.Beach and husband, Jimmy, and Jeffrey H. Pierce and wife, Judy; sixgrandchildren, Courtney, Brian, Michael, Richard, Matt and Miles; twogreat-grandchildren, Sophia and Katelyn, as well as one brother,William K. Slate II and wife, Debi, of Charlotte, N.C.
Born in Winston-Salem, N.C., but raised in Richmond, Dr. Piercereceived her Doctor of Divinity in May 1989 from the North FloridaBaptist Theological Seminary for her contributions to missions. She andher husband lived on Hatteras Island for a time, and she worked atMidgett Realty.
Services were held on Monday, March 5, in Mechanicsville with burial inthe church cemetery of Petsworth Baptist Church in Gloucester, Va. Inlieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the buildingfund of Anchor Baptist Church, 7291 Atlee Rd., Mechanicsville, Va.23111.
