JARVISBURG, N.C. — Rhondal Lewis“Ronnie” Midgett, 68, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, in Elizabeth City.Born March 1, 1943, Mr.Midgett was a native of Manteo and the son ofthe late George Lewis Midgett and Beatrice M. Midgett.
Ronnie served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and later became aminister serving churches in Ocracoke, Frisco, Currituck, and Manteo.He served as the first pastor of Manteo Faith Baptist Church where heretired and was named Pastor Emeritus.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Debbie M.Jernigan and husband Clift of Southern Shores and Cindy B. Grosskopfand husband Randy of Creedmoor, two sons, Ronnie Midgett and KevinMidgett and wife Holly both of Kill Devil Hills; six sisters, CarolynM. Johnson, Laura M. Jones and Beatrice M. Robbins all of Manteo; JanetTillett of Manns Harbor, Martha Ann M. Beasley of Wanchese and Betty M.Duncan of Melfa, Va.; two brothers, Claude Midgett of Waterlily andIsaac “Ike” Midgett of Nixonton; 10 grandchildren, Omie and JonathanGallop, Joey and Jeremy Salter, Aaron Grosskopf, Elyse and JackMidgett, and Emily, Ric, and Caitlyn Jernigan.
A celebration of life will be held in the Grandy Assembly of GodChurch, Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. by Rev. Bradley Hargett and Rev. TomOliver. A private burial will follow. Friends may join the family atTwiford Funeral Home, Manteo on Saturday from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Inaddition to flowers, memorials may be made to the church or charity ofone’s choice.
