AVON – John Buren Miller, 76, ofAvon, diedMonday, May 23, in his residence. Mr. Miller was born in Avonandwas retired as BCMS in the United States Coast Guard. He was a memberof St. John’s United Methodist Church and a member of Cape HatterasMasonic Lodge # 698 AF&AM and also served for six years asboardmember for Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative.
He was the son of Lucy Farrow Miller of Avon and the late Dallas BurenMiller and the husband of Nita Price Miller of the home.
Also surviving are his daughter, Teresa M. Midgett, and husband Barryof Avon and his son, John Buren Miller, Jr., and wife Jettie also ofAvon; one brother, Dallas Miller, and wife Lois of Avon; twograndchildren, Blake Miller and Amanda Midgett, and one greatgrandchild, Jasmine Midgett; niece, Michelle, great nieces Alexandriaand Mackenzie and great nephews Gavin and Zachery. Mr. Miller waspre-deceased by his grandson, Justin Yopp.
A celebration of life will be in St. John’s United Methodist Church,Thursday. May 26, at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Roger Dill and Rev. Bryan Gray.Military Honors will be held at the church and Masonic Rites will heldat the graveside in Hooper Cemetery in Avon. In addition to flowers,memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 40336McMullen Road, Avon, N.C. 27915.
