RODANTHE — Virginia McCuneO’Neal, 86, diedSunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at Spring Arbor of Outer Banks. Born in BarbourCounty, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence andMyrtle Wilfong McCune and was the widow of Oscar B. O’Neal.
She retired as Postmaster from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 yearsof service, was a longtime member of Fairhaven United Methodist Church,and was a member of Outer Banks Rebekah Lodge #165.
She is survived by four sisters-in-law, Helen Midgett of ElizabethCity, Zenovah Hooper of Salvo, Lovie Midgett of Rodanthe, and OlivePatrick of Rodanthe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. atFairhaven United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Bliss officiating.Burial will follow at the O’Neal Family Cemetery. The family willreceive friends and relatives at the church on Wednesday from 7 until8:30 p.m.
