BUXTON — Jordan David Bartholomew, 32, drowned on January 21, 2017 while surfing in Buxton, NC on the Outer Banks.
He was born on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1984 in Warren, Ohio the son of Marlin and Johanne (Mrus) Bartholomew.
Jordan graduated from Howland High School in 2003 and received hisBachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Youngstown StateUniversity in 2009. He also attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene College in Mt.Vernon, Ohio.
Jordan was always drawn to the ocean and permanently moved to the OuterBanks of North Carolina in 2009. He was employed with the Dare CountySchool District and worked with autistic and special needs children.But, due to ongoing health issues (Crohn’s Disease, Epilepsy,Asperger’s, Depression) he was unable to continue working.
He was a prime example of staying true through the struggle and being aself-less giver of love to all he encountered. He never had a problemjust straight up telling a stranger that they were beautiful or givingrandom people compliments that secretly made their day. God gave him aspecial gift with reaching out to children, especially those withspecial needs. Most of all, he loved to make and see people laugh.
Jordan loved adventure and was never afraid to try anything new. Hebecame an accomplished surfer. He loved the ocean, photography, music,nature, and playing the guitar and harmonica. His zest to live life tothe fullest was an inspiration to all who came in contact with him. Hisstrength and perseverance helped him in telling others about JesusChrist.
Jordan will be sadly missed by his parents; sister, Jennifer (Douglas)Dadisman; brother, Jared (Ashley) Bartholomew; nephew, ZechariahDadisman; nieces, Gabrielle and Isabella Dadisman; uncles and aunts,Allan (Janice) Bartholomew, James and Marilyn Marshall, Dennis (Judy)Bartholomew, Jon Mrus, and Tatiana Jarosova-Mrus; God daughter, EllaBartholomew; Maryann Fontanarosa who was his second mother, andnumerous cousins. He will also be deeply missed by his special angel.
Jordan was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua; paternalgrandparents, Warren and Julia Bartholomew; maternal grandparents, Johnand Anne Mrus; uncle, James Mrus and a cousin, Susan Mrus Dolgae.
A celebration of Jordan’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28,2017 at North Mar Church, 3855 East Market Street, Warren, Ohio, at12 p.m. with Pastor Paul Armitage and Greg Marshall officiating.
Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services at thechurch and on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Lane Family FuneralHomes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, Ohio, from5 to 8 p.m.
