BUXTON — Lila Mae Waterfield, 102, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2016at Peak Resources – Outer Banks. Born Oct. 26, 1913 in Morehead City,she was the daughter of the late William Henry Daniels and Dora LouisePowers Daniels. A member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Buxton,Lila was very active within the church and involved with many churchfunctions. She was the widow of Wilbur Eris Waterfield Sr.
Lila is survived by two daughters, Cora Louise Ballance of Hatteras andRose Marie Ballance of Buxton; a son, Wilbur Eris Waterfield Jr. ofBuxton; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 23great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Dora Louise Worley ofChesapeake, Va. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceasedby two sons, Kenneth Nile Waterfield and David Leigh Waterfield; agrandson, Frankie Lee Gaskill; a brother, Wilbur Daniels, and a sister,Wilma Daniels Perry.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, atLighthouse Assembly of God in Buxton with Rev. Bryan Gray, Rev. DavidWaterfield, and Rev. Steve Danser officiating. A reception will followat the Lighthouse Assembly of God Family Life Center. A private burialwill take place at the Powells Point Baptist Church cemetery. Thefamily will receive friends and relatives on Friday evening from 6:30pm until 8 p.m. at the church and all other times at the home of RoseMarie Ballance, 47170 Rocky Rollinson Road, Buxton.
