RODANTHE– Marilyn Elizabeth Futrell Midgett, 70, died on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015at Chesapeake General Hospital. Born in Franklin, Va., she was thedaughter of the late Obed Clifton Futrell and Myra Benthall Futrell.Marilyn and her late husband, Joseph “Mac” Midgett Sr., owned andoperated Midgett’s Campground and Island Convenience. She was a personof faith, being a member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church and sheoften attended Clarks Bethel United Methodist Church. Marilyn found joywithin her grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her two children, Martha Caldwell, and husband,Scott, of Hatteras and Joseph Midgett Jr. of Frisco; twogranddaughters, Myra Elizabeth Caldwell and Claudia Grace Caldwell,both of Hatteras; an honorary granddaughter, Olivia Kathleen Austin ofBuxton; a brother, Billy Futrell and wife, Jean, of Murfreesboro; twosisters-in-law, Mildred Midgett of Rodanthe and Maggie Smith ofChesapeake, Va.; nieces and nephews, David Midgett and wife, Kit, LindaMidgett, Willie Smith, Cliff Futrell and wife, Karen, Charles Futrelland wife, Denise, Andy Futrell and wife, Lauren, Amy Futrell, NancyFerrell, Billy Ferrell, Robert Ferrell and Debbie Moore, as well asnumerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Along with her parents andhusband, she was preceded in death by nephews, Gary Wade Midgett and Richie Ferrell; asister, Elaine Ferrell, and husband, Dickie; a sister-in-law, FlorenceFutrell; and brother-in-law, David B. Midgett Jr. and wife, Yvonne.
A service of remembrance will be held at Fair Haven United MethodistChurch on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jim Bliss and Rev. KenDavenport officiating.
