OCRACOKE– Ruth Louis Erding, 92, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at W.R. WinslowMemorial Home. Born in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter ofthe late Henry Paul and Doris Rebecca Jones Derschinger and was thewife of the late Cantwell Howard. Mrs. Erding spent the past53-three years living and working on Ocracoke Island where she had manyfriends and acquaintances.
She is survived by three daughters,Joyce Ruth Allewalt and husband Charles of Baltimore, Md., SaundraLouise Beach and husband Thomas of Delaware and Ginger Howard O’Nealand husband Richard of Hertford, N.C.; a son, Ronald Cantwell Howardand wife Lorraine of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren, 32great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Along withher parents and her husband, Mrs. Erding was preceded in death by herbrothers, Henry Paul Derschinger Jr. and William Arnold Derschinger.
