HATTERAS– Stacey McKenney Cunningham, 46, passed away Wednesday, March5, 2014. Born in Portsmouth, Va., on July 31, 1967, she was thedaughter of Hunter Ray McKenney and Hilary Rossow McKenney of Red Oak.She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Eric Christopher “Chris”McKenney and Michael Ray McKenney.
A loving wife, mother,daughter and sister, she was a friend to all. She found the good inevery situation, never judgmental or critical of others. Staceydedicated her life to the nurturing of others and it was reflecteddaily in every word and deed. The desire of her heart was to teachchildren and working with her students at the Hatteras United MethodistChurch preschool was a rewarding part of her life. Stacey was the gluethat held everyone together, and she will be truly missed by those wholoved her.
Along with her parents, she leaves behind her lovinghusband, Tommy Cunningham; three sons, George Thomas “Trey” CunninghamIII, Derek Ray Cunningham and Micah Riley Cunningham; sister, ErinJefferson and husband Roy of Red Oak; and sister-in-law, Brenda BoswellMcKenney. She is also survived by nieces, Brianne McKenney, HilaryMcKenney, Jenna McKenney, Leah McKenney, Marleen Jefferson and AshleyPhillips; and nephews, Mason Jefferson and Chris Jefferson.
Thefamily will receive friends and relatives from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday,March 8, at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to rememberStacey will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel withRev. Roger Barnett officiating.
