SOUTHERN SHORES — Elizabeth Emily Mangione Hamley, 91, passed away on August 4, 2019 peacefully. She was born on September 14, 1927 to Reverend Aurelio Rudulfo Mangione and Mary Long Mangione in Plainfield, New Jersey. Besides her parents, Liz was predeceased by two brothers, Aurelio Mangione, Jr. and John Mangione.
She graduated from college as an R.N. and worked at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ where she eventually became the Charge Nurse in the Emergency Room. Liz married J. Clark Hamley (d. 2010) in 1960 and they had two children. Liz worked for Dr. Donatelli in Martinsville, NJ, and another private practice in Point Harbor, NC before retiring. Liz and Clark retired in Southern Shores, NC for over 30 years. Liz loved her two children and their families dearly, enjoyed bridge immensely, was a person who closely valued her friends, loved dogs like her family, and spent a lifetime collecting antiques that she loved.
Liz is survived by her two sons, Jeff C. Hamley (Kymn) of Christiansburg, VA and Jon C. Hamley (Paula) of Chesapeake, VA; six grandchildren, Luke Hamley, Elizabeth Hamley, Jake Hamley, Kyle Hamley, Daquan Hamley, and Lexie Hamley; one sister, Margaret Webster of Martins Ferry, Ohio; and a special nephew, Mark Webster (Sue) and sons Dylan & Tyler Webster. She is also survived by her dog, Tinker Bell.
